Natural phenomenon of «fire», being ontologically universal for humanity, was originally reflected by the phraseology of the Russian and Chinese languages, as the special feature of idiomatic images is their correlation with cultural codes – those realities whichhave been given cultural meanings by people and which therefore are the source material for understanding other idiomatic images [1]. For a proper understanding of these set phrases one needs to know their origin [2]. In this case, idioms are organized around the rod component «fire», which in its initial meaning belongs to the natural landscape code. The phraseological picture of the world was created as an interpretation of reality in the way of ancient views on the world order, and visible reality refracted in the human mind as an anthropomorphic phenomenon, this is in animism, fetishism, in rituals and so on. The Slavs considered a fire to be one of the main elements, a symbol of the Spirit, and God, the celebration of light and life over darkness and death, universal atonement, this is a symbol of vitality. But more than that, the fire was a punishing symbol as well [3]. In Christianity, the fire can be not only divine, but infernal. The sacred fire was the source of power, symbolizing its honor and dignity. The Slavs fire served as a symbol of masculinity, which, together with water and light, created all flesh on earth. The Chinese «fire» means danger, anger, ferocity, speed, but as a spiritual force it is solar («yang»).Coupled with the principle of water «yin», the fire is symbolized by a trigram «- -» in which outside lines are yang and inside emptiness is yin. In China, the fire is one of the mutable elements or states corresponding to the South, a red color, a bitter taste, a smell of burning, a chicken and feathered tribe. The Chinese use a red agate plate as a symbol of the element of fire in their solar rituals. Fire symbolizes wealth, so in China, for example, on New Year's Eve it was not allowed to give a fire to another house. As you can see, the cultures of Russia and China have evolved in different ways, but, nevertheless, one can find something common in them.
